Richard N.
Henson is well
known nationally as a motivational speaker,
humorist, storyteller, and craftsman. He is
the third generation broom maker at the
renowned Henson Broom Shop & General
Store
located in Symsonia, KY. The business was
started in 1930 by his grandfather, Rollie
Newton Henson, continued by his father,
Rollie Nelson Henson. His son, Richard
Nathan, is the fourth generation broom maker
for the business. |

Richard and his poignant and
motivational story have been
featured on countless television
appearances across the country.
In 1993, PBS television filmed a
documentary about this
heartwarming story. Richard has
also been written about in
numerous magazines, newspapers
and books.

Richard
is also well known for the unique, high
quality handmade brooms he made for the
television show, "Dr. Quinn, Medicine
Woman". He has brooms in all 50 states and
eleven foreign countries. |

Richard N. Henson has been an
educator, basketball coach and
principal. With the success of
the broom shop he has been able
to fulfill a life long desire to
be an entertainer. With his
ability as a speaker and
storyteller, he uses events and
stories from his childhood, his
coaching and teaching background
and as well as his travels as a
broommaker. Richard paints a
picture with words as he tells
stories, makes a point and
motivates the audience with
laughter. With his southern
charm and personality Richard
captivates his audience with
stories and messages that allow
the audience the reflect,
remember and laugh. He even
performs a one man stage show
called, "Brooms, Bootsie and
Me", complete with costume and
music, which is a lighthearted,
nostalgic story of not only his
family, but life in small town,
rural America. In the show
Richard even makes a broom as he
performs and gives it away to a
member of the audience at the
conclusion.
Richard N. Henson is now in
demand as a motivational
speaker, humorist and
storyteller for the corporate
business world, school systems,
civic organizations, historic
sites and gatherings of all
kinds. He has recently performed
at places like Club Celebrity in
Branson, MO (where he brought
the house down), the Grand
Casino in Tunica, MS, Moulton,AL;
Jackson,MS; Little Rock, AR and
all over the United States.
